Looking for somewhere new to visit on your meanderings through Northumberland? We take a look inside Northumberland HQ - a (relatively) new speciality coffee bar and concept shop located at Vallum Farm, East Wallhouses.
The cafe and concept shop opened at the end of October 2023. After substantial work to bring an empty unit to life with tasteful decor, wood finishes and earthy tones, the space was ready to be filled with local produce and visitors keen to sample some Northumberland Coffee. The cafe serves up more local produce in the form of homemade sausage rolls, sandwiches, cakes, beer and honey - to name but a few. So if you’ve had a long walk, or need fuelling up before you hit the trails, you’ve come to the right place!
Alongside all there is to eat and drink, the shop also sells an array of other gifts and items you’ll be hard pressed to avoid picking up and examining further. Upon the neatly presented tables and shelves you’ll find sketchbooks, mugs, maps, tea towels, books and candles. Not only that, but you’ll also find our prints carefully positioned around the place (toilet included!). Well, we couldn’t not mention that, could we? The HQ stocks a comprehensive selection of our Northumberland based travel posters, including our collaboration print seen below. Hopefully there’s something that takes your fancy!
The Northumberland HQ conveniently acts as a staging post for keen adventurer’s who may be starting, finishing, or in the middle of the Northumberland 250 - a 250+ mile road trip that’s designed to give visitors a taste of all the good stuff Northumberland has to offer - dark skies, rolling hills and exquisite coastline. In keeping with this idea, the HQ provides the base for the Northumberland Defender Hire; a fleet of Land Rover Defender’s that are more than well equipped to get you through all kinds of rough terrain - perfect for going off road under starry skies, or waking up to a stunning sunrise over the North Sea.
The dog-friendly HQ is currently open everyday 10-4pm, so you’ve got no excuse to drop in when you’re next passing. It’s always worth following the HQ on Instagram to keep up to date with what’s going on, and to keep abreast of any new produce that’s just hit the shelves. It could come in particularly handy near Christmas - wink! See you there!
